Vidisha Garg dabbles in field of Patents where she has amassed an experience of almost 20 years, representing clients in several pre-grant and post-grant patent opposition and patent revocation matters. Vidisha was involved in the Tykerb revocation matter, India’s first NCE revocation case; Tygacil patent opposition, where critical issue of section 3(d) was involved and patent was granted to a reformulated drug. She actively participated in the Eisai matter which is a landmark case for it answered complicated questions on species and genus patents – a phenomena enabling innovator companies to get a first patent for a breakthrough technology and thereafter species patents within the coverage of the first patent.
Her practice areas also see her engagement in providing opinions and strategies on patent laws in India, drafting of patent specifications, patent searches, validity, patentability, and infringement opinions. Clients rely on her advice on issues relating to protection of national biodiversity, and traditional knowledge. She also gives advice to her clients in respect of IP asset management and IP licensing. She is also a registered IP facilitator of Start-ups and SMEs. Therefore, the breadth of her clients is from Fortune 500 companies to start-up.
Her previous experience is of an academician and active researcher in the field of Synthetic Organic Chemistry. She has worked in prestigious institutes like Central Drug Research Institute (CRDI) and University of Lucknow.
Vidisha pens articles for various prestigious publications such as Managing Intellectual Property, WIPR and LSIPR etc. She has authored research papers in the field of Chemistry in journals of international repute. A regular speaker at some of the most followed national and international forums, conferences, and seminars such as AIPPI, etc, Vidisha also engages extensively in spreading the message of IPR through pro bono workshops with industry bodies like CIPAM, INTA, TIFAC, BIRAC, ICAR, etc.

- She is the executive member of Indian group of international association for protection of intellectual property, AIPPI (Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Intellectuelle)
- She is also the Chair of AIPPI’s Committee on working Requirement
Vidisha is an active member of several international bodies, whose primary goal is to create harmonization of IP laws worldwide. She is the actively involved with AIPPI (Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Intellectuelle) and has been instrumental in developing a couple of white papers and report regarding issues inter alia, data exclusivity, working requirements of patents, diagnostic methods, etc.
Vidisha is also the member of the ‘Standing Committee Before the European Patent Office’ (SACEPO), Working Party On Quality, (2021-2023) and regularly engages in providing her inputs and insights w.r.t. improvement of quality of patents.
Vidisha is also a member of ASSOCHAM’s National council on IPR.

Committed to spreading IPR Awareness and fostering innovation and scientific temper, Vidisha conducts routine workshops, webinars and certificate courses on IPR for judiciary, enforcement agencies and also various schools and universities in association with various government and industry bodies like CIPAM, INTA, TIFAC, BIRAC, ICAR, etc. She is closely involved with TIFAC (body under DST, Government of India) and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in training programs of scientists, local communities and young patent agents.
