Safir Anand was invited by Jaipur BookMark to speak at the ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival 2019. He shared his thoughts on the subject of Copyright. We participated in the Roundtable, presented a broad picture of the copyright laws and introduced the other reputed panellists including Michael Healy, Aditi Maheshwari, Claudia Kaisar, Alind Maheshwari, Maggi Doyle, Kannan Sundaram, Phillipa McGuiness, Prashasti Rastogi and Urvashi Butalia.
The discussions covered:
1) How Copyright is facing challenges with digital technologies and blockchain?
2) How publishers are shaping up the future to keep the publishing industry alive?
3) Recent trends in India.
4) Discussion on practical problems faced by the publishers with regard to contracts entered into with distributors, authors, etc.
The Roundtable ended with the panellists putting forward their questions and doubts to Michael Healy and Safir Anand.
